Becoming Jane
A travelling exhibition about Jane Goodall, the world's most renowned, respected and passionate conservationist and scientist. She is best known for her groundbreaking studies of wild chimpanzees at Gombe, Tanzania, which revolutionised our understanding of the relationship between chimpanzees and humans.
The exhibition hall at the Hong Kong Science Museum has been transformed into an African jungle to recreate the chimpanzees’ natural habitat. Visitors can explore the fascinating world of chimpanzees, learning about their close kinship with humans, the emotions they express through facial expressions, their ability to make and use tools, and their medicinal use of plants from the wild.
For this unique exhibition, we developed a holographic projection featuring Jane Goodall working at her camp and addressing visitors directly. We also created the ‘Chimp Gesture Application’, which allows visitors to experience chimpanzee gestures and expressions that are not exactly the same as those of humans.
