Irish National Stud & Gardens
The Irish Racehorse Experience
Irish thoroughbreds are considered the fastest racehorses in the world. The Irish National Stud & Gardens is located in the Irish town of Tully in Kildare. Thoroughbred horses have been bred here since the 1900s.
This 600 m² experience tells the story of this extraordinary breed and the equestrian sport in Ireland. Every visitor receives a tablet that tracks their position throughout the various rooms. As they approach a film or interactive, the tablet syncs automatically, playing the relevant voice-over and music.
Through their tablet, each visitor purchases a one-year-old Yearling in the famous Irish auction hall, Goffs. Throughout the game, visitors make decisions about nutrition, trainers, training regimes, and which jockey will ride their horse. These choices ultimately determine the speed and performance of their horse. All this comes together in 'The Big Race', where visitors compete against one another in an IMAX-style setting, complete with mechanical moving horses, wind effects, immersive sound design, dynamic commentary, and a life-size projection of the race on a famous Irish circuit.
All content, including films, animations, game design, programming, and simulation of the entire exhibition as well as the design of the graphic panels, was our responsibility.
