Airborne Museum Hartenstein
The Network
In The Network, a temporary exhibition at the Airborne Museum Hartenstein in Oosterbeek, we use unique sets and an abundance of audiovisual effects to show that a well-organised resistance was active around the time of the Battle of Arnhem in 1944.
According to the literature about the Battle of Arnhem, the resistance did not have a significant impact. However, research by the Airborne Museum reveals that what once appeared to be isolated actions were part of a well-organised underground network. This network is being made visible for the first time in this exhibition.
In The Network, visitors experience three resistance stories as if they were there themselves. You'll discover who these people were, how they knew each other, and how they risked their lives. Their efforts left behind a trail of impactful actions, from sourcing food for those in hiding, to sabotaging railway lines and evacuating the remaining airborne troops after the battle.
All storylines were developed in close collaboration with the museum.
