Henri Willig
The Story of
Edam Cheese
A genuine Cheese Experience where the glorious history of Edam Cheese is experienced. Henri Willig gained international recognition with the production of Baby Gouda. For 40 years, he has been dedicated to crafting high-quality, traditional cheeses. Henri Willig wanted to share the stories behind the famous cheese and so the idea for the Cheese Experience was born.
In a walk-through experience set across two national heritage buildings, all the stories come to life: from the cheese trade and how farmers’ wives in the 14th century made 'cleyne casekens', to why Edam cheese is yellow here, but red abroad. The medieval walls and restored wooden beams take centre stage in a second audio tour, which focuses on the remarkable stories behind the building itself.
For the experience, we created a cow-milking game, several other games and interactives, as well as the complete audio tour in six languages. This very tasteful public attraction offers (international) visitors the opportunity to discover lesser-known stories about the world-famous cheeses.
